About the Campaign

There is a stigma surrounding discussions about suicide. This is unfortunate because talking about it can be incredibly relieving. It can also foster recognition among people who have experienced similar feelings.

That’s why MEIJT and I have joined forces. With our free online training and the distribution of colorful pins, we aim to break the taboo around talking about suicide in the LGBTQ+ community.

Suicidality among LGBTQ+ individuals

With our campaign, we are focusing on individuals from the rainbow community. Worrying statistics have shown that this group is particularly vulnerable to suicide. We hope that our campaign helps to bring people from our community closer together and create a supportive network where everyone feels safe and understood to talk about their struggles.

What once started as a joke has now grown into an influential social platform for LGBTQ+ individuals. In addition to funny quotes, risqué content, and extravagant parties, MEIJT. is also committed to addressing social issues within the LGBTQ+ community.

Ambassadeurs

Ryann

I’m Ryann, a 22-year-old queer pop artist from the Netherlands. Through my music, I tell personal stories about love, identity, and mental health. I write, produce, and perform my own songs, blending the pop energy of Dua Lipa with the alternative edge of Billie Eilish.

With more than one million views across social media, I use my music as a way to be open, honest, and vulnerable. I believe in a world where everyone has the freedom to be their authentic self.

My message is simple: follow your dreams, embrace who you are, and live life to the fullest—because you only get one.

Freedom To Be Yourself. ✨

Tim Küsters

I’m Tim Küsters, an ambassador for the Tell Me About It campaign, former Mr Gay Europe, and the current Mr Gay World Intercontinental. Through both my personal experiences and my commitment to social causes, I advocate for greater visibility, connection, and mental well-being within the LGBTQIA+ community.

It is incredibly important to me to use my voice for issues that truly matter. As an ambassador for Tell Me About It, I am committed to breaking the taboo surrounding suicide, especially within the LGBTQIA+ community. No one should ever have to face their thoughts alone. By having open and honest conversations, we can break down stigma and show that there is always someone willing to listen.

I believe that visibility, connection, and empathy have the power to change lives. Together, let’s build a world where everyone feels heard, seen, and supported.

Max Gerets

I’m Max. With a background in communications and a strong commitment to inclusion and social issues, I believe it’s important to make difficult conversations possible.

Talking about suicide isn’t easy. Many people want to be there for someone who is struggling but don’t know what to say. That’s exactly why Tell Me About It resonates with me: the campaign shows, in an approachable and visible way, that simply starting a conversation can make a real difference.

Especially within the LGBTQIA+ community, it’s essential that people feel safe, seen, and taken seriously. No one should ever feel like they have to face their struggles alone.

My message is simple: you don’t need to have the perfect words to make a difference.

Kadeem

This is me. In 2023, MEIJT. approached me with the idea of creating a new campaign focused on mental health. Before long, I came back to them with the concept of a campaign in which colorful pins would play the leading role.

Like the team at MEIJT., I work on this campaign as a volunteer. I do so because I believe suicide prevention is an incredibly important issue, and I want to help strengthen and support the LGBTQIA+ community. At the same time, organizing this campaign is also a personal victory for me. After spending a year and a half in rehabilitation following multiple strokes, I wanted to prove—to myself as much as to others—that I am still capable of leading a campaign of this scale. I hope my journey can inspire other people living with acquired brain injury to never give up and to keep fighting for the goals that matter to them.
